Conference ORLAN en mayúsculas by ORLAN – KBr Fundació MAPFRE – Panoràmic festival

As part of the collaboration that the Panoràmic festival and KBr Fundació MAPFRE maintain on a regular basis, the three sessions of this cycle propose, under the direction of Joan Fontcuberta, a suggestive approach to one of the central themes in the history of images: the face. Her idea, her representation, her reading and other derived issues will be addressed in this cycle by three female voices.

The Repensar el rostrecycle will feature the participation of Alison Jackson, ORLAN and Marina Garcés, invited to this meeting to contribute their respective approaches around the issue of the face, the thematic axis of the cycle and the Panoràmic festival in its current edition.

A major theme, with an uninterrupted historical journey to its contemporary derivations, the face has become an emblem of the human. From the Greek mask to the faces modified with the latest technology, each era and each society has expressed itself through the features they have tried to reflect on their faces.

The sessions will address this issue from different perspectives, from the parody of the cult of appearance and the feminist critique of the face and the established canons, to a humanist vision of what it means to appear, to support ourselves face to face.

The cycle will take place in person in the auditorium of the KBr Fundació MAPFRE.
