PAUSING IA

Curated by Federica Matelli #freepalestine and led by Estampa collective.

Open call from July 16 to October 3.

A practical and speculative workshop that seeks to question the capacity of machines to “see,” as well as the technical, ideological, and aesthetic implications this entails. At a time when computer vision organizes much of the extractive flow of images—used to monitor, classify, or control—this workshop proposes to work against the grain: to activate a techno-poetic gaze that does not merely resist, but instead reclaims these very tools to imagine non-normative uses.

WHAT IS IT?

This workshop is part of the Educational Sessions / Universities program of the Panoràmic festival 2025, and is organized in collaboration with BAU, University Center of Arts and Design of Barcelona. It is a creative and educational proposal aimed at students of Fine Arts, Design, and other disciplines related to visual arts. The workshop is open to both BAU students and students from other institutions.

The aim is to create a collaborative working environment around a specific theme, culminating in a collective exhibition of the resulting works within the framework of the festival. The exhibition will open on October 23, 2025, and will be held in one of BAU’s exhibition spaces.

The workshop will take place in October 13, 14 and 15, 2025, from 6 pm. to 8 pm., and will be held in the laboratories at BAU. Production and installation will be coordinated by the center
