Eva Marín critically reviews the setting of the mountain landscape as a construction of the nationalist epic in the Catalan area. Analyzes how the mountain space has been instrumentalized from politics, perpetuating archetypal representations of patriotic exaltation and domination typical of Romanticism and the Renaissance. Marín reflects on how this uniform and idyllic vision leaves no room for other, more complex and heterogeneous ways of looking at and representing the landscape.
From autobiographical experience, she explores the tensions and distances between institutional instrumentalization and experiences of the landscape through the practice of hiking, which she reviews from a vital and feminist perspective. Thus, Marín focuses on how the tops of the mountains have also been the subject of presentation of other stories, less patriotic and more emancipatory.
