Photographs, especially portraits and family photography, are serial killers of the identity of those photographed. They survive us to the point where we are no longer anyone, we are forgetful, we are ghosts in a photograph without memory. It’s not about how we’ll be remembered, it’s about when and how we’ll be forgotten.

The I’M, jo soc project, by Jordi V. Pou, reflects on this role of photography in this inevitable oblivion. From the image of the author himself – nothing more intimate than the image itself – he seeks a way to incorporate into a series of portraits all the emotional charge of oblivion seen in the first person. Forgetting is disappearing, it is a relentless process of distorting our image and identity. Érem i ja no som.
