68 THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING

GRANOLLERS — BARCELONA | 2018

Fifty years after the legendary year that revolutionized everything, its importance appears devalued in the media, which have hardly mentioned the anniversary and, even less, have celebrated the turmoil and utopian spirit that characterized it.

Apart from this devaluation, pronounced by a power with more repressive resources and a society less tolerant of any protest that is described as “radical”, “violent” or “rupturist”, the year 68 continues to have significance in many areas that were not so obvious, but that are related, for example, to the way we remember that year and its scenarios. We refer to the world of image, photography, film and television, and the new ways of capturing, showing, commenting on and distributing images, even in independent press networks. Images that told us about the Vietnam War, the Russian invasion of Czechoslovakia, the demonstrations in Paris, Mexico, Chicago or Amsterdam.
