Panoràmic Festival
From October 10 to December 29

Opening dates
October 10 | GRANOLLERS
October 24 | BARCELONA
November 14 | TERRASSA

In the first quarter of the 21st century, we are witnessing a polarization of society in the so-called “advanced economies”, the result of the concentration of power by large corporations in the era of globalization.

Political polarization, another consequence of the loss of state power, is causing public opinion to divide into two opposing extremes. This makes it difficult to find consensus and puts democratic systems at risk while favoring populist and authoritarian policies.

We are witnessing the most accentuated inequalities, as evidenced by the survival of slavery practices, the emergence of new conflicts with terminologies such as “the war against terrorism”, which threaten the security of international society, or the phenomenon of mass migrations and the new slavery.

The 2024 edition of the Panoràmic festival focuses on works by artists who make a critical review of recent history and, at the same time, reflect on the current geopolitical, economic, and social situation, marked by polarization and its consequences. We point out the situation of the elderly, the gender issue, job insecurity, displacements, the consequences of natural disasters and economic policies, territorial limits, the power of money, the revision of history, the projection of new scenarios, or historical dislocations, to mention some.

Exhibitions

The exhibition program of the festival explores the theme of the festival through the work of catalan and international artists. A careful and diverse selection offers in each edition unique exhibitions of artists that allow us to reflect and learn about the concept that the festival proposes. Within the program we find the diversity of projects through the sections Panoràmic File, where creators/res are invited to revisit photographic archives to create an installation in public space, Panoràmic Review, where every year a figure or a movement is rediscovered that has been relevant in the audiovisual world, but is unknown to the general public, and the show Open Panoràmicwhich collects the preselected projects from the national call that each edition organizes the festival.

Activities

The program of activities is dedicated to bringing the content of the exhibitions closer to various audiences, both from a conceptual, artistic and technical point of view. The design of various activity formats generates a dynamic of reflection and thought that allows us to delve deeper into the artists’ proposals.

III Professional Conferences

The Panoràmic Festival organizes the third edition of the Professional Conferences to visit the exhibitions and create a meeting space where knowledge can be exchanged among various professionals in the field of culture and visual arts. Participation is open to visual arts technical managers from municipalities, culture technicians, heads of cultural and exhibition spaces, and/or individuals interested in learning firsthand about the organization of visual arts programming.

Panoràmic Education

Panoràmic is committed to education in visual culture, and for this reason, since the beginning of the festival, we have created a pedagogical proposal to bring the contents closer to both school audiences and other entities. The educational program consists of a device for the following levels: primary, secondary and high school.
